Fall ....

Our heatwave ended abruptly and it's cool enough that I was looking at my winter jacket yearningly for a couple of days.   I figured it was time to dig up the few beets and carrots remaining in the garden and they're on the menu tonight.

This sunflower was a late bloomer and looks so pretty.  All of the others are hanging their heads and their seeds are being enjoyed  by the chickadees...

And these lavatera have endured many nights of frost this month and are still blooming ....

This being pumpkin season and us with no pumpkins but an abundance of carrots means our pumpkin pies are made from mashed carrots - no kidding.  Once I add the spices you'd never know it wasn't pumpkin.  By the way, the MGCC shared their homemade pumpkin pie spice here.
Their pumpkin cupcakes are delicious, too - pumpkin pie without the crust.  And if you want to stabilize your whipping cream try this

I have an assistant ....

This mini quilt was stitched ages ago and is finally finished .....

We're having some beautifully warm hot and sunny weather just now .... I think we're finally having summer!  Summer was cool and wet so this warm spell is a delightful treat!

I now have an assistant and I'm not sure how I managed before.  I'm grateful that Geta introduced me to Evernote, my new assistant.  At first I wasn't sure how I would use Evernote but on a trip to the cabin the light came on it came to me and now I wouldn't want to be without it. ^^

to market, to market ..........

Made myself a market bag over the summer .....

from a pattern I found here
I'm definitely going to make more of these.

We've closed the cabin for the winter and shall stay home till spring.  There's been no frost in cottage country so the flowers were still happily blooming - I was sad to leave them on their own.
This is the last sunrise we'll see there this year .....

summer stitching .....

Here's another of the pieces that I stitched over the summer.
I wanted it to look old and tried my hand at antiquing.
 It's a design by Niky.

There seems to be a shortage of hand towels at the cabin
so I recycled a small bath towel into two hand towels.  I cut the towel in half and added some fabric trim to the cut edges.  To make it a totally recycled project I didn't use new fabric for the trim but used a piece from an old shirt.
Interestingly, this project gave me a lot of satisfaction.

Halloween ....

I love this Halloween design from Sandy - it was fun to stitch all the detail in the design, and my hubby said he enjoyed watching it come to life.  BTW, Sandy has another cute Halloween design posted ...... I think I need more time.  :)

Christmas stitching .....

I've done a bit of Christmas stitching over the summer.  These cuties are from Brooke's Books.  I think I won't 'finish' them until all the designs are stitched.  Aren't they just the cutest?!?!?!  And they're free, too.
