A is for .....

A is for a lavender sachet for my DIL.  It's a Lesley Teare design.

We've just had the first long weekend of the summer and it was most pleasant except for the gale force wind on two days.  It was also the quietest May long weekend we've experienced in cottage country.

This little sweetie (tree swallow) decided to set up home and she and her fella were quite busy and fun to watch.

funky chicken

Chicken didn't turn out quite the way I had expected but it looks cute hanging up in the cabin.  I was going to hang it on the verandah but I can't trust Nigel the squirrel to leave it alone.  ^^   I made it from drop cloth and some sort of tweed-like fabric with braided jute legs ... I goofed on it's beak but I kinda like the funky look.

we just got back .......

We opened the cabin and spent a few days there enjoying the beautiful weather - couldn't believe how sunny and warm it was.  Of course, I'd taken clothes for cooler weather so it meant pant legs and long sleeves rolled up.  It was wonderful to be there again and a pair of purple finches greeted us as we arrived .... they were staying for dinner so I had to quickly dust off and fill the feeder.  ^^    Actually they were still there when we left.
This was the bag of needlework I'd taken to work on
but the only thing I accomplished was handstitching the binding on the the flower shoppe.

You see, we were quite busy with putting out all the doodads, bird feeders, bird houses, etc. and being entertained by the birds.  When we weren't busy with that we were being social - perhaps too social. ^^  We enjoyed ourselves and even had the first weiner roast of the season.  Sadly the wood ticks are quite abundant and beaver has been very naughty.
