chive blossom vinegar ...
Having seen a photo of chive blossom vinegar I had to try making some and rather impatiently waited for the blossoms to open - they seemed to know their fate and remained buds for the longest time. ^^ I managed to harvest a small jarful and began the process .....
Here it is strained and bottled 10 days later ....
The flavour is nice although more 'oniony' than I expected. I've tried it in some salad dressings and we like it. If you're wondering how it's made ..... fill a jar ½-¾ with chive blossoms and fill with vinegar; let it sit in a dark, cool spot; after a week check the flavour daily until it's what you like then strain it into a sterilized bottle.

early morning ....
One morning last week I was wide awake very early and had no idea why until I looked out the window and saw this gorgeous sunrise! Aren't those clouds awesome?
Needless to say we're keeping busy these days sorting and packing. Some items are going to the cabin and others will go to our new place while others will find new homes. Here's the skinny on our plans ..... since our condo isn't ready just yet we're renting an apt. in a four-plex - it's ultra modern and we're quite pleased although it's on the small side. On our way home from the cabin the other day we stopped in our new community to set up the utilities, etc. and service was so friendly that it was quite a treat!
everything comes to you at the right moment ... be patient

odds 'n sods from the cabin .....
Here's a surprise - some stitching!! It's a card for a friend and I confess that it was stitched a few weeks ago.
I took some pix around the yard at the cabin to share with you. The gardens are doing well - some plants doing better than others. We tried planting potatoes in bags this year and they're looking good - the tops are, that is, since we don't know what is going on underneath ....
The candle holder my fella made finally has some hardware....
Much enjoyment is spent down by the water ....

ma and pa kettle .....
This was one of our recent trips to the cabin ....
in the back of the car there is a wing chair along with all the otherjunk good stuff. We felt like Ma and Pa Kettle.
This Canada Goose family frequently visited. The family was small with only 5 goslings that were reduced to four when we left for home. The goslings are absolutely delightful to watch and have very attentive parents.
Sadly, there is no needlework or sewing to share since none has been getting done - I miss it.

yard art
My fella made this these candles. The large one was made from scrap wood that he finished with a transparent ebony stain - it could hold a large candle or even a small plant. The candles inside it are made from fence posts that are wired together with barbed wire; holes are drilled in the top for tea lites. I wasn't sure where I was going to use this but it seemed to fit perfectly with the weathered lawn furniture down by the water. (The top needs a piece of old hardware but I haven't chosen one yet located my box of bits and pieces yet.)
Since my last post there's been an interesting turn of events - we put our house on the market and have accepted an offer. If you don't see a new post for awhile you'll understand. Also our wifi at the cottage and been quite iffy this season and consequently I haven't been able to read and comment on blogs - my regrets.
