luscious ....

I've been working through my stash for almost a year - I haven't purchased any fabric, yarn, or needlework supplies until now.  Look what arrived in my mail box just the other day!  I'd nearly depleted my yarn supply over the winter so I treated myself to this lusciousness .....

I heard on the weather report that this is our coldest winter in 30+ years!!  I remember the previous one and so I ask, "Is it fair to experience two such cold winters in a lifetime?"
To make matters worse the forecast for March is for below normal temperatures.....

another one .....

We had tease of Spring with some warm
weather earlier this week - hooray.  However, it's cold again and with fresh snow.
It's been a long winter this year.

I've been doing a bit of spring cleaning because I just know that once it warms up
 I'll want to be outdoors!!

Here's another scissors holder - this one can hold 3 different sizes ....
if I lose one I'll lose them all.

Aa new cosmetic bag with a boxy bottom - easy to make and roomy.
The pattern is from So Sew Easy.

This is a sampler baby blanket/cover .... it would be ideal as a carriage or sled cover for baby.  It used up a lot of my odds and ends of yarns and enjoyed learning a few new stitches - my favourite was the star stitch.  I got the idea from here.

my funny valentine

The song, ♪♪ My Funny Valentine ♫, came to mind while I was working on this one
but then the song became an ear worm.  Alas.
This funny valentine is for my fella. ♥

The sun is getting higher and warmer so we just know that spring is on it's way - right?

Murphy's Law

Believe it or not this journal cover took me half a day to make instead of an hour or so.  I'm not sure if I had a mental block or was SOS (stuck on stupid).  Mind you, Murphy's Law seemed to be in control this past week even in the sewing room.    The good news is that I did finally finish it but only because I refused to give up.   My favourite go-to recipes are in this journal so the coffee fabric seemed appropriate.  I had a stitched piece that said 'recipes'  that I'd planned to use but knowing it would likely need to be washed frequently I decided against it.
I've had some Blogger problems, too, and was about ready to say farewell; however, yesterday much to my delight I was able to solve the last of the recent problems.  No doubt, there will be more arising since Google is always changing something with our account.  Alas.
My newer sewing machine is on strike as well.  Fortunately, I still have my older one and it bailed me out...I praise her every day for that.

Today is hubby's birthday but I promised him
I wouldn't mention his age.   ♪♫♪
