warming up ...

Today the temperature actually reached +6C and there was sunshine - yeppers, water was running here and there and it was a beautiful day!

I've been racking my brain trying to come up with something to share.  Do you really want to hear about doing my taxes or the friend who is ill in hospital or the weather that is slow to warm up or the raging cabin fever, etc.  I haven't been doing much needlework either - I did stitch one piece that was such a pretty design but I'm not pleased with how it turned out - completely my fault not the fault of the chart.  There, I did find something to talk about but there needs to be an accompanying photo - didn't take one of the delicious curried carrot soup that I made  nor of the yummy lemon butter or the English muffin bread. So how about the knitted square I made last month - I'm not a knitter although my mom taught me to knit at an early age  - and many years ago I knitted my toddler a fisherman knit pullover.  This square intrigued me and I wanted to see if I could do it - it's a better looking heart for real than it looks in the photo  - the best part is that I want to do more knitting now ...

looking forward to ....

We're looking forward
to seeing this  ......

yes, we're anxious to return to the cottage cabin.

I recently made this Plain Jane
coffee press cozy to take with us.

This is my finished wrap/shawl .... I made it shorter and use a shawl pin to keep it  around my  shoulders.  I know I'll made good use of it at the cabin on a cool evening.  The 'on the go' mini clutch wallet  (I'd posted about these earlier) is the one that I made for myself; it's made from a remnant that was left over from some outdoor cushions.

Super Bowl Sunday!

The temperature has warmed up considerably and the sun is shining although more snow is in the forecast.  The groundhog seems to be as confused as we are about the weather .... spring will arrive or will not arrive in 6 weeks.  The calendar tells us it will arrive in 6.5 weeks and with any luck Mother Nature will cooperate by supplying the appropriate weather.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and this is what I'm planning to work on whilst watching the game ......

A knitted shawl, crocheted edging on a baby
blanket, and a x-stitch design.

bunnies, butterflies .... and knitting?

This wee bunny and butterfly caught my eye and I simply had to stitch them....

You'll find the chart here.

I quite surprised myself the other day when I picked up a pair of knitting needles and a ball of yarn and made this.....

I haven't knitted for years ages but when I spotted the crocheted  and knitted version of this neck wrap over at Fiberflux I knew I had to make one ... I preferred the knitted version and the pattern was so easy.  Mind you, when I was finished I had to look up how to cast off ... for the life of me I couldn't remember how.  I used yarn that I had on hand and the colour works perfectly with my winter jackets.
