Thanks to Desertskyquilts pointing me in the right direction I've discovered why I cannot leave comments on some blogs - even ones that I used to comment on. It's good to know the reason why but I cannot remedy it. :(
It's raining here today - we don't need it. Yesterday a black hornet took a dislike to me ...
For some reason Fireweed was plentiful this year and I took advantage of that to make some jelly .... I'd been wanting to try this out for a very long time. It's delicious and the flavour is a cross between chokecherry and crabapple.
the finished product
Fireweed plant
the flowers that made the juice
You'll find all sorts of information on Fireweed here and here; the jelly recipe is in the first link.

well your title sure had me curious. The jelly looks delicious. Hugs,xx
Your jelly looks great but I have never heard of the Fireweed plant. It's it a plant that grows wild, or have you planted it. I love it when we can get hedgerow produce. Eldeflower and rose hips are my favourite.
This jelly looks fantastic!
You can send us some rain...we need it very much! :o)
Too bad about your commenting issue. The jelly sounds yummy!
Wow, I never heard of this jelly. That looks so interesting, and sounds tasty. Thanks so much for showing the flower. I'm going to find out if we have it around here! (You're welcome.) I hope you are in pain, as I understand hornet stings are far worse than bees.
Oh, darn, widely spread in the US - EXCEPT in the southeast. =P LOL, well it was interesting reading anyway. I'd love to try several of those recipes, but I think I'll make scones without the fireweed and see how that recipe is. Thanks!
The jelly looks really good, I love jellies with this colour.
